NOSORH Annual Meeting Offers Both Educational, Networking Opportunities |
October 21, 2009 -- Sterling Heights, Michigan
The National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) has several events planned as part of its upcoming annual meeting that give attendees an opportunity to network and share information with colleagues from other states.
The 2009 NOSORH Annual Meeting and the Preparing for Tomorrow Today Pre-conference HIT Summit will take place November 17–19 at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown in Austin, Texas. In addition to plenary, concurrent and educational sessions on healthcare reform, economic stimulus funding and health information technology, this year’s event features a Town Hall Meeting during which participants can raise and discuss issues they feel have the greatest implications on health care in rural America today. First-time attendees also will have the opportunity to share their thoughts on rural health issues during a “Meet the President” breakfast with current NOSORH President Lynette Dickson (North Dakota Office of Rural Health).
NOSORH also has several networking events scheduled during which attendees can gather informally with their colleagues. A reception will be held Tuesday evening (November 17) at Eighteenth Over Austin, which is located on the 18th floor of the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown. On Wednesday morning (November 18) attendees can join representatives from the Texas Office of Rural Health for a 7:00 a.m. walk/stroll through Austin; that evening. That evening, they can join colleagues for an optional group dinner at The Hula Hut along the banks of Lake Austin. According to the Hula Hut’s Web site, “this tropical Texas paradise … features a unique mix of Mexican and Polynesian cuisine otherwise known as ‘Mexonesian.’”
Additional meeting and registration information is available at the Annual Meeting Information section on the NOSORH Web site. Please note that the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown’s registration deadline is this Friday, October 23.
